Mission statement: Vision Maker Media shares Native stories with the world that represent the cultures, experiences, and values of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
Vision Maker Media will stay true to the fundamental vision of supporting Native media. The vision includes placement of Vision Maker Media as the curator of Native voices in public media in a rapidly changing world.

Vision Maker Media exists to serve Native producers and Indian country in partnership with public television and radio. Vision Maker Media works with Native producers to develop, produce and distribute educational telecommunications programs for all media including public television and public radio. Vision Maker Media supports training to increase the number of American Indians and Alaska Natives producing quality public broadcasting programs, which includes advocacy efforts promoting increased control and use of information technologies and the policies to support this control by American Indians and Alaska Natives.
A key strategy for this work is the development of strong partnerships with tribal nations, Indian organizations and Native communities. Reaching the general public and the global market is the ultimate goal for the dissemination of Native produced media that shares Native perspectives with the world.
Sharing - To share Native stories of culture and beliefs with the world. Vision Maker Media is the curator of Native voices in public media in a rapidly changing world.
Collaboration - To be collaborative in programming and field wide efforts toward visibility, access and equity for Native peoples in the mainstream media.
Creativity - To encourage creativity in all efforts in order to stay on the leading edge.
Honoring - To honor Native culture, heritage, wisdom, sacred stories, and the storyteller.
On January 1, 2013, Native American Public Telecommunications, Inc. (NAPT) changed its name to Vision Maker Media. The following reports were from when the organization still operated as NAPT.
