Your Story:
I am a board member of the
CINEARTE UNIVERSITY located in the capital of the state of Puebla Mexico. We will host our second annual Indigenous Peoples Film Festival in Puebla this October and screen 30 selected films in the City of Costa Mesa California on October 31 (day of the dead children) and November 1 and 2 days of the dead adults). the film Festival is named A Glimpse from our Roots.
This years festival will call attention to the plight of the Huichol Indigenous peoples of the Mountainous regions of the Mexican states of Nayarit, Jalisco and San Luis Potosi who recently learned that the Mexican President Felipe Calderon has signed an agreement with a Canadian Mining concern which seeks to extract the mineral wealth of the Huichol Peoples. The Presidential agreement violates long standing constitutional guarantees of the sovereignty of native lands.
We are desperately seeking funding for this bi-national Film Festival. The cost of the venue alone is $4,100. 00 USD for the 36 hours of hourly rental fees which we will incur over the 3 days of the festival. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas we would welcome your input. Please contact Kurt Aanensen at
kurtea@yahoo.com or 949 637 1258 to discuss.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
